Shellfish Harvesting-related Risks and Communication

Harvesting shellfish is an ancestral activity that has become a source of income for a few, and a playful, most of the time family hobby for others. This activity includes all fishing techniques without using (or as an accessory) a boat, from the shore (beaches, rocks, small islands...)

Although harvesting shellfish is often practised as a pastime, regulations apply to all to preserve the ressource and to guarantee its future. Moreover, the consumption of shellfish might present an important risk to human health.

Therefore, as a responsible recreational harvester, it is necessary to :

- get informed on the quality of harvested sites

- respect regulations,

- act appropriately for yourself and the environment.

Vous êtes malade ?

Professionally-retailed bivalve shellfish go through SPECIFIC INSPECTIONS (on-site, in professional farms and in retail shops) AND benefit from PURIFICATION PROCESSES. These actions GUARANTEE THE SANITARY SECURITY OF RETAILED SHELLFISH.
